Aside from the return of your favorite shows and as well as the debut of new shows, television specials are also set to air this month as well. So here are the television specials that you must anticipate on the first month of 2017!

Golden Globe Awards

The famous Golden Globe Awards is back for its 74th year, still from the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel, where the best of the best in American film and television from the past year are awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Jimmy Fallon, comedian and host of NBC's The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon will host the event.

Miss Universe

The 65th edition of the much-awaited Miss Universe heads back to the Philippines for the first time since it last hosted in 1994. The reigning titleholder, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach will crown her successor in her home country. The audience will also get a glimpse of the island nation through the telecast as contestants will travel to different places such as Iloilo, Cebu, and Davao to discover the wonders that the Philippines offers. The contest will be hosted by comedian Steve Harvey for the second time, and he is joined by model and America's Next Top Model judge Ashley Graham.

People's Choice Awards

Without having to over-complicate things, the 43rd edition of the People's Choice Awards returns, where the viewing and listening public will be giving awards to their picks in television, film, and music. Actor and comedian Joel McHale from CBS' The Great Indoors will host the show.
